The Look For Less

Back in the early 2000's I would spend hours watching a TV show called "The Look For Less" on the Style Network. A show in which the adorable, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, would tell average midwestern women that they could look and dress just like their favorite celebrities- All for under one hundred dollars. This show had everything I loved- Fashion, Style, makeovers, but most of all it had a challenge! Because let's face it! Who doesn't love a good challenge!?!

So for todays blog, I thought it would be a fun challenge for Annika and myself to each find a picture of a celebrity style that we love and then try our best to copy the look, while using only what we currently have at home in our closets.

Annika decided that for her "Look For Less" challenge, she wanted to try to tackle this fabulous look of Taylor Swift. Annika loves how Taylor rocks the knit beanie- Especially during these cold months of the year. Annika also loved the nautical feel of Taylor's striped T-shirt layered under a blazer.

Annika found this perfect v-neck striped t-shirt in her closet that she bought last year from Nordstrom Rack. She paired it with my "Treasure and Bond" black blazer from Nordstrom, and her Skinny Jeans by Rag and Bone. She topped the look off with a knit beanie from Zara. (old)

Victoria Beckham has quickly become one of my favorite fashion icons! She has such a classic style and is often seen wearing clothes from her own VB Collection. I chose this particular look because I love the way Victoria Beckham can take something as simple as a black turtleneck and jeans, yet style it in away that it suddenly becomes sophisticated and chic.

I am wearing my black turtleneck from White House Black Market, high waisted slouchy jeans (my husband refers to them as my "80's jeans") by 7 for all mankind, Black leather belt by Frye, and black heeled booties by Donald Pliner-Nordstrom.

When you are in the need of some style inspiration of your own, I encourage you to accept the "Look for Less" challenge. Find a picture of your favorite celebrity style and then see how closely you can match it without spending a dime. You will be amazed when you discover how much fun it is to shop your own closet!
